South Africa
Loosely based on the greater Karoo area, you’ll find seasonal resources and larger shifts in weather and resource availability.
Canada
Based on the Great Slave Lake area of northern Canada, this is the most extreme location available. Expect drastic shifts in temperature and resource availability as seasons progress.
Gear
22 unique gear items to choose from. You can select up to 12 pieces of gear; each one has a unique effect on how you play the game.
Shelter
Choose from a basic Lean-To, A-Frame or Log Cabin shelter to keep you sheltered from the elements. You can start with a basic option and gradually work on a better one if you have the energy and resources. Each shelter offers varying levels of insulation and heat regeneration, but all are needed for a good night’s rest.
Fire
Your fire is essential to your survival. In cold locations you need it to keep warm. In all locations you’ll need it to purify water and cook food so it’s safe to consume. You can also smoke items for long-term preservation.
Foraging
Foraging encompasses multiple aspects of camp maintenance
- Gathering tinder, kindling and wood for your fire.
- Collecting unsafe water for purification.
- Finding fresh bait for fishing.
- Foraging for edible plants, mushrooms, shellfish and other edibles.
Hunting
If you’ve chosen a bow as part of your load-out, then hunting for various mammals and birds becomes available to you. Hunting can be performed in various lengths of time, with additional bonuses to your chance of success the longer you hunt.
Fishing
If you have fishing line and hooks, then fishing is an important part of your survival in any area. Like hunting, longer unbroken periods of fishing grants additional chances of being successful.
Trapping
You can use passive hunting options like deadfalls, snares, set lines and gill nets to ensure your survival. Make sure you choose the needed load-out to allow for crafting of these traps.
